Above the town, there is the mountain Marijan with pine woods, Mediterranean plants, a zoo and three churches from the Middle Ages. The marina has 364 sea and 60 dry berths.

The landmarks seen while entering the city port are the prominent bell tower of the Cathedral of St. Domnius, Cape Sustipan and Marjan Hill on the west. The wide entrance into the city port lies between the main breakwater, on the head of which is a green lighthouse (Fl G 6s 11m 10M) and the ACI marina breakwater, an extension of Cape Sustipan, on which there is a red tower with red lighthouse (Fl R 6s 9m 5M). The latitude and longitude of the green lighthouse on the main breakwater are 43°30,1' N 16°25,5' E. Inside the port ACI marina Split is protected with another breakwater, the head of which is marked by a red lighthouse (Fl R 2s 6m 3M). After rounding the breakwater head, ACI marina Split is approached. Closer to the shore there are some reefs marked with a green buoy.

Split is not only an urban, cultural and traffic center of Dalmatia with road and sea connections to Dalmatia's numerous summer resorts, but it is itself often a tourist and excursionists destination. A city with a 1700-year old tradition, a variety of archaeological, historical and cultural monuments, among which the well-known Palace of Diocletian, inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List, certainly occupies a special position, and the warmth and offer of a modern Mediterranean city.
This eternally young city with around 200 thousand inhabitants has lived its urban rhythm for 1700 years with Diocletian's palace at its heart, which is also the historical center of the city and a UNESCO world heritage site. The Cathedral of sv. Dujam [St. Domnios], the patron saint of Split, is located in the mausoleum of Emperor Diocletian, and its sumptuous interior is a gathering place for many of the faithful and tourists. Many valuable monuments of culture are located outside the walls of Diocletian's Palace (Renaissance Prokurative Square, palaces, churches, museums...).
Located in the warmest part of the northern Mediterranean coast, in the very center of the Adriatic coast, this tourist, economic and sports (Goran Ivanišević, Branka Vlasic, Toni Kukoč) region guards its green soul on Marjan hill, where a forest park near the city offers a comfortable and quiet atmosphere and a walk far from the town noise. The rich offer for tourists as well as the unique cultural heritage and many cultural and tourist events gives Split its special charm and makes it an ideal holiday destination throughout the year.
The Emperor's Palace is one of the most significant works of late-ancient architecture, not just for the preservation of original parts and the whole, but also for a series of original architectural forms announcing the new early-Christian, Byzantine and early-medieval art. The cathedral was built in the Middle Ages by using materials from an ancient mausoleum. Roman churches from the 12th and 13th centuries, medieval forts and Gothic, renaissance and baroque palaces are contained within the Roman walls, thus creating a harmonious whole.
